Quarenteeing koi that have just flown in from Japan is extremely important.The koi from the different breeders are put in totally sepearte ponds.The initial goal is to give the tired and stressed fish some time to recover.After that the bumps and bruises must be treated and then the koi scraped and any parasites eradicated.Finally,we take gill swabs from 2 koi from each different breeder and these are sent in to MDS to be tested for KHV.48 hours later the results are e-mailed through:-
